THE CURIOSITY BEHIND THE CLIPS

Good science starts
with a question.

An independent science channel from South Australia, for people who want to understand how things work.

Things I didn’t understand, explained simply.

Aussie Science Clips is an independent project by Brendan Faulds, made in South Australia. It begins with the questions a curious non-expert actually asks, then works towards an answer from first principles.

Why can sand think? What is actually inside a chip? How did we get from one transistor to data centres full of GPUs? The aim is to make those ideas understandable without losing the science along the way.

You don’t need a technical background. Just an interest in what’s going on under the surface.

Silicon: from sand to supercomputers.

The first series follows the material, ideas, and inventions behind modern computing. Its ten-part roadmap moves from semiconductors and doping to diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, logic, memory, and the processors behind today’s technology.

01 / THE QUESTION

Start with curiosity.

A real question, explained in everyday language. Introduce the idea before the jargon.

02 / THE EVIDENCE

Follow the sources.

Research from primary and reference material, with source lists alongside the videos.

03 / THE EXPLANATION

Make it visible.

Animated diagrams, historical context, and clear examples that help the idea click.

How the clips are made.

AI assists the research and production process. Read the details, including how to flag a mistake.
