Who we are
Aussie Science Clips is operated by Brendan Faulds in South Australia. This notice describes information handled through aussiescience.com and enquiries sent to [email protected].
Information handled
When you visit: our web server and Cloudflare process technical request information, which can include your IP address, the page requested, date and time, browser details, and referring page. This is used to deliver the site, diagnose problems, and protect it against misuse.
When you email: we receive your email address, any name you supply, your message, attachments, and related email metadata. We use this information to respond, investigate corrections or rights enquiries, and keep track of the conversation.
This website has no user accounts, checkout, newsletter signup, or contact form. You do not need to provide your name or email address to browse.
Service providers & overseas processing
The site runs on a BinaryLane-hosted server and uses Cloudflare to deliver and protect website traffic. Contact emails are routed through Cloudflare Email Routing to a Gmail inbox. Google also provides YouTube and video thumbnails.
These providers process information to provide their services. Cloudflare and Google operate internationally, so information may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy for their practices and locations.
We do not sell enquiry information or add people who contact us to a marketing list. Information may be disclosed when necessary to comply with a legal obligation or address a security issue.
Storage, retention & security
The web server rotates its logs daily and is configured to keep fourteen rotated log files. Actual retention can vary with traffic, backups, and security investigations. Cloudflare and Google apply their own retention practices to information in their systems.
Email correspondence is kept as needed to deal with the enquiry, retain relevant permissions or correction records, and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to remove correspondence we no longer need. Deletion may be subject to legal requirements and provider backup cycles.
The website uses HTTPS. Access to server and email systems is restricted, but no internet service or email system can guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for your enquiry.
Your choices, access & questions
To ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern, email [email protected]. Describe your request without including unnecessary sensitive information. We may need to verify your identity before sharing or changing information.
We will consider your request and explain any limits that apply. If a concern remains unresolved, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner provides information about privacy complaints and when it can help.
This notice will be updated if the site’s practices change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
